Firearm Proficiency

Firearm Proficiency is the very first step to firearm ownership. Join us in an unforgettable Classroom session that will equip you with the knowledge and skills to safely and effectively operate firearms as well as giving you confidence to handle and use a firearm. Once you have completed your proficiency training, you can apply for a competency certificate for SAPS.

Firearm Competency


If you are a first-time competency applicant, applying for your competency certificate from the South African Police Service is the second step in the firearm licensing process. This is done by submitting your proficiency certificate along with SAPS application forms and some attachments.

If you are a first-time firearm owner, licensing your first firearm is the third and final step in this process. This is done by obtaining your firearms serial number either by purchasing or inheriting a firearm.
